Collectible Cards

The collectible card system was as product level gamification feature where students could collect, showcase, and trade beautiful cards after completing their daily recommended academic content.

Responsibilities

  1. Designed the card collection end-to-end, and how it integrates with the larger gamification approach

  2. Worked closely with the artists to arrive upon a final visual design for the cards, including providing a list of subjects and themes

  3. Designed the card gacha drop algorithm, programmed the algorithm, and verified the validity of the algorithm through a simulation

  4. Conducted surveys to verify which cards and themes were popular with our users

Quick Look

Having items of different rarity forms the core of the drive to collect in Gacha systems. So, we created cards across various rarities and developed a gacha drop algorithm that would drop these cards with varying probabilities. Users could also upgrade a card by collecting enough duplicates of them.

Cards were categorised into different themes based on academic topics. Learners had to complete these topics to collect all cards of that theme.

Learners were also awarded different number of cards based on their performance in the learning activities. This incentivised them to learn and play better to earn more cards.
